On Dec. 21, 1911, Hall of Famer Josh Gibson was born.

?Gibson is considered one of the greatest hitters of the Negro Leagues,? Baseball-Reference.com states. ?There are many who argue he was the greatest catcher ever, greatest hitter or greatest Negro League player; there are also counter-arguments for each claim.?

He never did play in Major League Baseball because of segregation.
